CHELSEA SETTLES.

I know most of you have either seen the first episode of Chelsea Settles or have at least heard a buzz about it. If you haven't seen it, allow me to fill you in. Chelsea Settles is a new reality show on MTV featuring an overweight 23 year old girl from a small town in PA, who studied fashion in college but is so embarrassed of her weight that she has let her dreams hold her back.

 Going through great measures not to draw attention to herself, Chelsea eats alone, hides fast food bags in the back of her car and arrives to class an hour ahead of time just to pick out a chair she can fit in. One aspect of her life however that her weight has not interfered with is her love life. Chelsea is in a long distance relationship with boyfriend Rory who is in the Army, stationed in Kentucky. Even though the relationship seems to be going well, Chelsea soon reveals that he has cheated on her. Chelsea justifies her boyfriend's infidelity as okay because she doesn't know "who else will love me at my size". After having dinner with Rory and hearing him doubt her ability to move to LA and "fit in", Chelsea decides that she is not going to let anyone deter her from her goals. Later that week, Chelsea makes her first attempt at 'clubbing' but decides to leave after the bouncer tells her to step aside as he lets thinner girls enter. As she walked back to her car, drunk club-goers shouted terrible weight related remarks at Chelsea, who broke down crying and tore off her microphone equipment. After 5 days of feeling down, Chelsea finally decided to make a change and move to LA to chase her dreams!

Weighing in at 324 lbs, Chelsea decided to leave the only town she's ever known, her first love Rory and her ill mother and head to LA with her cousin Jarel to fulfill her fashion dreams and start her weight loss journey.

What I love about this show is its relatability; Weight is such a sensitive subject and it hits a nerve with even the skinniest girl in the room. Chelsea is so brave for sharing her story and I wish her nothing but the best of luck on her journey.. she is definitely not alone and is such an inspiration to girls all over the world.

The show airs every Tuesday at 11pm ET on MTV!

TLC's "BIG SEXY".

If you have not yet started watching TLC's newest hit show, Big Sexy.. I have to ask, what in the world are you waiting for? The only thing I hate about this show is that I didn't come up with the idea myself.. I could be making lots of money right now haha. The show takes place in New York City and follows 5 ladies who are part of the fashion industry and love their curves. It's pretty refreshing to see a show on tv that doesn't talk about plus size women trying to lose weight (ie. One Big Happy Family, The Biggest Loser, Celebrity Fit Club). Not all curvy women want to be slim..healthy maybe, slim?! No; I'm just glad a show came around that embraces the plus size woman and showcases what life is like for us when it comes to dating, health, shopping, careers, etc. Producers of the show say: 

“ Weight bias is notoriously rampant in their chosen industries, and it is their mission to prove that a bigger girl – the girl that most Americans can relate to — can break the mold and change the fashion and cultural norms that have restricted and rejected them for so long.”

The show comes on TLC every Tuesday at 10pm Eastern time.  Tune in, you won't be disappointed!!

PLUS SIZE REMIX: ANGELA SIMMONS #NYFW

New York Fashion Week always brings out the stars. It was no surprise to me that Angela Simmons was on the scene; we all know she is a long time lover of fashion (can't wait for her line to drop.. I love her style). When I saw this picture of Ms. Simmons near Lincoln Center, I knew I had to do a plus size remix. Love the coral and blue combo! and the snakeprint bag?! :: sigh:: I wish hahah. PLUS SIZE REMIX: KELLY ROWLAND.

Last week, Kelly Rowland rolled through 106 & Park to promote her new album "Here I Am". Lately Kelly has been killing the blogs with her fashion sense, so I was pretty excited to see what she would be wearing. As expected, she delivered; she stepped out wearing a a black mini dress with a a real cute geometric design on the front, along with a metallic cuff and nude pumps. I loved the geometric pattern for two reasons: For one, it's super funky and two, it's very slimming. (Not like Kelly needs to appear any thinner.) In any case, I was feeling this look to point that I HAD to make a PLUS SIZE REMIX version! I haven't done one since Rhi Rhi's all white pant suit so I hope you're as excited as I am. 

The dress I found is from Dorothy Perkins and I felt it had the same slimming effect as Ms. Kelly's mini dress. Although it's a bit longer, it's far from matronly and to be sure of that I added some leopard print heels from Aldo. Nothing says youthful and fly like leopard print haha! I added some more color with a two tone clutch from ASOS ♥ and some flare with over-sized thin gold hoops and stacked bangles. Lastly, an orange-red lip and  goldish-orange finger tips (OPI "the 'it' color")

TOCARRA'S NEW PROMO PIX.

 I ♥ Tocarra! She is without a doubt my favorite from America's Next Top Model. Don't you love how she  didn't win the show but managed to have a more successful career than any winner of any season?! With her bubbly personality and to-kill-for curves, she is representing right for the curvy chicks. In a recent promo shoot by Derek Blanks for the second season of "The Merger", Tocarra looks radiant! Make sure you check out all the pics!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to celebrate my 23rd birthday! Cheers to that, right?! Another year older, another year wiser. I have accomplished a lot so far and am blessed to have great people around me that support me through whatever, whenever. I'm anxious to see where my life will take me and what I'll be doing in..let's say, 5 years. I'll be 28 (DANG haha). I went to an Asian & Thai restaurant in Williamsburg, BK called Sea. It was real pretty inside and the food was DE-LISH.. my only dislike was that the place was so loud it's hard to hear or carry on a conversation.

BET AWARDS 2011: THE CUTE AND QUESTIONABLE.

Ahh.. alas, the BET Awards! The most time I spend on that channel at one time all year haha. I love the awards though; full of entertainment, scandal and tons of laughs.. oh yea and great performances. Check out the cute and questionable fashion choices from last night's award show. 

And the winner is.. Kerry Washington. She looked stunning in an acid green Michael Khors backless column gown and black Christian Louboutins. My favorite look by far.

WISH[LIST] UPON A STAR.

There are so many things my heart desires at the moment, definitely not enough to list so I selected a few of my favorites to share with you. Right now, as you can see I'm going through some sort of shoe fetish, but most of you ladies can relate so I don't feel too bad. 


The first two shoes are from Jeffrey Campbell and stole my heart the day I walked into Nordstrom and spotted them from a mile away! The colors are so bright and pigmented and will work great with your summer's color blocking. I recently saw these leopard print doc marten's on Fatshopaholic's blog and fell in LOVE; I have a sickness.. I can't turn down leopard print, it's just too hard haha.


 I've been searching for the longest time for a longline bra that was both cute and affordable. I finally found just that on the Torrid website on sale for $20. Can't wait to pair it with a bright mini skirt and blazer.. EXCITING. Also on the list, I have 2 dresses and a handbag currently on sale at ASOS where you can save up to 50% on their summer sale. 

Forever 21 recently brought back their 5 inch platform floral mary janes a few days ago and just my luck as soon I went to buy, it was sold out.. again -_- . Oh well ,I thought I would share them anyway.. aren't they precious? The orange embroidered sundress is from Dorothy Perkins. It's so sweet and innocent and would look so cute with some white espadrilles wedges.

There are three times a year when a woman seriously contemplates a new look. Those occasions would be New Year's, our birthdays, and of course SUMMER! So in celebration of the first day of summer (and officially one month until my birthday =]) here are some of the hottest Hollywood hairstyles for you to use as inspiration when you hit the salon for your summer upgrade!

CHERRY  BOMBSHELL

Red is definitely the hot hue of the summer when it comes to hair. If  your looking for something out the box and something that will get you noticed, this is it! Beware though.. this is certainly not a shy girl style so if you lack the confidence, or don't like attention.. you want to go another route. However, I will say for those of you who will try this color this season... it looks great with all summer's great brights (ie. white, orange, pinks and blues)

JENNIFER HUDSON IN DENIM MINIDRESS.. DEF? OR DEF NOT?

Spotted this morning on her way to New York Studios for The Late Show with David Letterman, Jennifer Hudson showed off her long legs and slim waist in a skin tight denim mini dress with puff sleeves and $600 Christian Loub wedges. Can't say I love the hair... maybe it was an early morning?! Regardless, I love the outfit and it looks great on her. I will certainly be on the lookout for a version of those shoes that fit my budget haha.

RAVEN SYMONE: DEF OR DEF NOT?

Miss Raven Symone was spotted recently at the Las Vegas Palazzo Resort and Casino for the annual Simon G. Jewlery summer soiree. Going for a pretty in pink look, the actress wore a soft frilly cocktail dress and nude pumps. Showing off her natural tresses, she opted for a simple bow headband and topped off her outfit with sparkling diamond jewelry. Can 't go wrong with diamonds!

FUN WAYS TO ROCK YOUR MAXI.

One of the best things about the summer time, aside from the amazing weather, vacation from school and of course my birthday (July 21st!) is the ability to wear less clothing! I know all you ladies feel me on that haha. It's best feeling to get out of those stiff jeans and slide into something more comfortable like.. a maxi dress! Here are some funky ways to rock yours:

1. CHANNEL YOUR INNER CELEBRITY

Put on a straw hat and big sunglasses with your maxi dress and I swear you'll feel like a superstar!

2. ADD A SCARF

There's two ways I've seen people wear scarfs with maxi dresses that I adore. The first, as seen on Love Brown Sugar blogger Christina is worn as the top part of the maxi. This is so funky and I love it because it allows you wear the same maxi and have it appear as a completely different dress! Plus, if you keep changing up the pattern on the scarf, your possibilities are endless.

The second way is of course, on your head. I'm a lover of the turban style.. I find it fresh and different. If your not into the turban, you can always wear it as a regular scarf and let the ends hang down to one side  (sort of like a ponytail)

JUICY FINDS: SHEER.

If there could be any one time for chiffon and other sheer materials, that time is definitely now. I can't even go into a store or view an online collection without seeing an abundance of these flowy sheer items and if you think it stops at tops, you've been misinformed. I'm especially in LOVE with the sheer maxi skirts. (must get one ASAP)

One downside to chiffon material is the lack of stretch.. especially with tops. Blogger Gabi recently shared a tip on her blog about how she combats small fitting tops.
