FALL 2011 TRENDS.

POLKA DOTS
Polka dots are a way to revive your attire with a youthful and fun upgrade! Not only can you go for the traditional size polka dot, but opting for big bold polka dots are also encouraged this season. Add one polka dot peice to a outfit of solids or accessorize with the print (ie. scarves, flats, or even stockings!) Although this print is funky and gives a youthful edge, you want to avoid looking too juvenile by sticking to traditional polka dot colors like black, navy blue and white.
*Don't be afraid to mix prints.. polka dots look especially hot with leopard! =]

MIDLENGTH DRESSES/SKIRTS

First it was mini length, then it was midi; well now midlength dresses and skirts are the must have item of the upcoming season. I know all the career girls have often found it hard to incorporate fashion trends into their office attire, but worry no more.. the fashion gods have answered your prayers. This fall's fashion trends feature so many items you can wear in and out the office. Stock up now girlies.. your time is NOW!

GEOMETRIC PRINTS

Coming back for the fall, geometric prints are candy for any eye. They create an interesting focal point, whether it be a subtle accent or explosion of cubic patterns.

HIGH SLITS

This fall is all about feeling sexy and feminine without showing too much and I think the high slit is a great way of doing just that. On a long dress or skirt this look is amazing, especially when the materials are bright and/or have some type of sheen. FUN!

PEPLUM

First of all, I have to see.. I have been a long time fan of peplum! Not only does it give awesome tummy control haha but is also sophisticated and gives off the appearance of a super sexy silhouette.

BRIGHT PANTS
Yigal Azrouel, Karen Walker, Prabal Gurung, Philip Lim
Okay, so we all know fall is famous for earth tones and greyish dull color choices, but this season brighten up your life starting with your pants! Now, if there's anyone who would second guessed this look, it would me. Half the time, I can't even commit to light wash jeans haha. Usually I just feel wide in them, but with this look, I see a whole different ball game. Finding the right pant fit for your frame will make you more comfortable with wearing brighter bottoms.. There's something for everyone! (ie. Skinny, boot cut, wide leg, straight etc.)  If you're anything like me and felt like you couldn't pull this look off without looking wide and stumpy.. don't worry! Adding a white or neutral top creates a fresh, clean balance to the high-volume color. For my confident girls, go for a subtle top in the same color scheme. CHIC!

VELVET

Hot this season are materials that give off a bit of sheen and texture. One of those of course is VELVET!! I love the feeling of it, soft and smooth! Don't judge me if you see me in public petting myself haha. One item I definitely need in my life is some velvet leggings. I ♥ when fashion meets comfort!

LEATHER
Another big season texture is leather. Last year, it was the 'bad ass biker babe'.. this season its the 'bad ass vampire slayer'. Leather trench coats, skirts long and mini and pants are on the rise. Should we be surprised though, with pop culture's infatuation of the supernatural (True Blood *guilty*, Twilight *guilty*, Teen Wolf,  Harry Potter etc.) Will you participate in this fad?

CAPES

Capes are without a doubt my favorite part of this seasons trends ♥ . They have this old Hollywood vibe about them and because I'm so fab, I can't wait to get my hands on one. I've been searching for the perfect cape since last year; had my eyes on a cute little olive green one from ASOS but once Gabi from GabiFresh featured it on her blog, it was sold out! =[
Getting away from my sob story and back to the magic of capes; they can be casually worn every day or only on special occasions, over a stunning party dress or evening gown.

LACE ACCENTS
Last season, lace was all about bare skin, all very sensual. This season's lace trend has gone from sexy to pretty. The focus has gone from showing off skin to applying the pattern on different clothing items such as sweater sleeves, trim on dresses, coats and other basics. Keep color choices to black and nude to keep a chic appeal. (colors such as pinks, purples and blues appear cheaper.)

MENSWEAR INSPIRED

Although women wearing menswear is nothing new, it is nice to know its still cool to steal things out of our boyfriends closets! Start with a white button down, add a blazer and finish with a bow tie for edge. The tailored look is very classic and honestly.. it's not going anywhere.
