ESSIE NEON POLISH

Hey everyone, sorry about my non-blogging phase... but now I'm back. Did you miss me?! If you think I've been laying on the beach with ray-bans on my face, soaking up the sun.. you are so wrong. It's been a lot less glamorous than that actually. I've been studying for my GRE's which are over now so I feel refreshed and free. I assume however that you all have been enjoying the weather. Even though there's a heat wave in NYC, there are cool breezes waiting to be felt at your nearest beach. Pack up your beach bag, pull out your cutest shades and swimwear and watch the sun reflect off your fingertips with Essie's New Neon Collection!

Although this collection is not a new one, I find it perfect for the hot weather we all can attest to. Nothing looks better against the blaring sun than neon colors.. so take advantage! Essie's collection includes 4 shades: (from left to right) Shorty Pants, Short Shorts, Bermuda Shorts, and Mini Shorts.

DON'T DISCRIMINATE.. IT'S ONLY NAIL POLISH!

I know I haven't done a nail polish post in a while, reason being that I recently took the acrylic tips off of my nails and they look atrocious. Selfish I know, forgive me haha.
Today I went for a pedicure and while staring at my collection of polish and deciding whether I wanted to use my own color or one from the salon, I had an epiphany; Most of my nail polish is OPI. Don't get me wrong, I love looking at my nail polish and seeing the uniformity of all the OPI tops ( psycho.. im already aware). I know that I am not alone in this and many of my friends ONLY purchase OPI nail polish. I'm not so strict, occasionally buying other brands if I'm in a rush and don't have time to run to the mall. I can't help feeling like I have fallen into this box of the brands highly publicized by magazines (ie. OPI, Essie)  and encourage us all to break out and experiment! After all, it's just nail polish ...let's not discriminate!

10 BRANDS I ENCOURAGE YOU TO TRY:
  • China Glaze
  • Orly
  • Zoya
  • Revlon
  • CND Creative
  • Chanel
  • Dior
  • MAC
  • NARS
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure

OPI newest collection (includes Silver Shatter) .

Coming soon to stores in early May , OPI is introducing its new line for Disney's new movie , 'Pirates of the Caribbean : On Stranger Tides' . The collection includes bright yet pastel colored shades along with silver shatter . To be honest , I'm not too sure how I like these colors combined with the silver shatter but they are great alone . The only colors I can see myself using silver shatter on is black or a deep blue . You be the judge : like, love, or blah ?

In the picture below you can see each collection color with and without the silver shatter .

shades from top to bottom : Skull and glossbones , Steady as She Rose , Sparrow Me the Drama , Planks a Lot , Stranger Tides , Mermaid's Tears .

OPI Black Shatter Review.

You might have seen it in magazines being advertised by Katy Perry and Serena Williams and you might also be wondering, "is it worth all the hype?" My answer to that is YES! absolutely. Black Shatter by OPI creates a cracked leopard print sort of look onto your nails. If you know me, you know i LOVE cheetah/leopard print and shouldn't be surprised that I am all over this haha. OPI was not the first to make this kind of polish ...Covergirl, Mia's Secret, BYS and others have attempted but by far OPI has the best quality so if you love nail polish, you've gotta have it. This high demand nail polish is pretty much sold out in stores but you can certainly find it online (thats where I got mine!). Make sure you check the seller's feedback as there are nasty people out there who are looking to take advantage of your desire and just want to steal your money!
If you're wondering how to make the pattern appear smaller like in the above picture, its really quite simple! just use a thinner coat.
